inspiration

I received an email letter from a brother from the east that I haven't heard from for about a year now. You can call him Kenny. He sent me this letter hoping to encourage and inspire me. He sure did.

How's everything doing to you, my brother? I got some inspirations:

Following Jesus means giving up all of the earthly things. I think it is the theme going through the Gospel, as far as I study the Gospel. And I got a deeper understanding why Abraham is called " Father of Faith". He was single-minded obeying the call of Lord God, sacrificing everything, even his own son before God. That shows his faith to God. And Matthew gave up all that he had in the society to follow Jesus, single-minded, and live a life that seemed insecure in non-Christian's eyes. I sometimes thought why I was not Matthew and why Lord Jesus did not call to me face to face, like He did to Matthew. Actually, I've understood now Lord Jesus called to me :" Follow me" four years ago when I started to believe in Him. It was a silent call from Him. This call was not in the form of voice, but in the form of my experiences and something in my life. I experienced something which made me realize that there must exist God and started to read Bible and started to believe in Jesus four years ago. And these experiences are the same as Jesus' calling "Follow me" to Matthew, with the same power making me to follow Him. I was lucky that I was called by this silent call of Jesus!

From Abraham's sacrificing his only son before God, to Jesus' sermon" Seek His Kingdom first, and all these things will add to you"; from Matthew's following Jesus single-mindedly, to Jesus' teaching" Go, sell all you have and give them to the poor and follow", it is the theme" Following Jesus single-mindedly by denying all the earthly things"!

I went to the barber's. The barber said if I wanted to keep a long hair style, I shoul wait for the hair's growing for two month. But I had a little fixed on the two sides of head. Nice hair style in mirror, sharp guy in suit, and Kenny in God's image, hehe.

Best wishes to you in Him

Kenny

I think Kenny got it down: "It was a silent call from Him. This call was not in the form of voice, but in the form of my experiences and something in my life." A lot of times we become passive and inactive with our faith because we wait for God's call in the form of a voice, when God already has called us, but we are blinded by _________ (Fill in the blank for yourself: for me it is, "pride & selfishness").

I hope we all learn something from Kenny's devotion.
