Pastor Troy asked a question today that sets the mood for the week for me. He said if Isaiah were here today, what would Isaiah ask us about Isaiah (the book) after having read/studied it:
Why are you guys not more joyful?
I think if the prophets from the bible were to be right here right now, they probably would look at us and say:
How are you guys NOT more joyful?
Isaiah prophesized Jesus, these events hadn't happened yet. Check this out. David's prayer in Psalm 51.
This Psalm has a heading: "For the director of music. A psalm of David. When the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba."
David asks God: "Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me." Psalm 51:12
It got me thinking. Thinking back to when I first received Christ and had the joy of His salvation. When was the last time I/you had that kind of joy, when I/you knew so clearly that he saved me/you. When I really think about it in my life and in other people's lives who's been changed by Christ... That's real joy. Filled with hope and gratitude.
