Cornerstone finally finished going through the "5th Gospel" Isaiah yesterday. That means that along w/ Cornerstone, I finally finished the intense summer reading/study of Isaiah also. It is good. Never expected for Isaiah to be this good because I've tried reading it and failed miserably countless other attempts before this one. What two came out of Isaiah that I will remember?
1. prophecies prophecies prophecies. Isaiah always point to Jesus, there are a lot (someexamples, Is 2:2, Is 9:6, Is 53:5)
There is a cool passage ending the book of Isaiah that gives me chills and excitement about the new heavens and a new earth. It comes from Isaiah 66:19-21, here's an excerpt from the end of verse 19 and beginning of verse 21.
"They will proclaim my glory among the nations. And they will bring all your brothers, from all the nations, to my holy mountain in Jerusalem as an offering to the LORD..."
2. makes me excited about heaven
Speaking of heaven, after this summer, experiencing a 2 deaths that somewhat impacted me hard and also the people close to me. I've been thinking a lot about death and heaven and somewhat hell. But I've been wondering what will heaven be like.
I think there will be pets in heaven. Pets as in animals. read Isaiah 65:25. But nonetheless Isaiah paints a wonderful picture that gets me super excited at 65:17-25. Things such as meeting Jesus face to face, seeing all the saints from all different times and nations, joyful, delightful, we get to do real work and it'll never be boring.
What are some things that make you excited about heaven? Or if you can't think of anything, what are some things about heaven that you think will not be exciting?
